Our Week in Kindergarten
Our Week:
We have continued to work on procedures and classroom rules. Our letters of the week Uu and Ii helped guide us in our Wilson and Handwriting Without Tears practice. We practice letter formation in workbooks, on chalkboards, sky writing, in salt trays, and during independent writing. We have focused on choosing topics, capital and lower case letter formation, spaces between words, and punctuation at the end of sentences. The students write phonetically and attempt to represent initial, middle, and ending sounds in words.
Included in your green communication folder will be a page from Lexia Core 5 that shows an action plan, progress, standards, and usage. We will send these home monthly in the folder. We will also send home certificates for completed levels. There are printable pages available to reinforce areas that your child may need extra practice. Please let us know if you would like these sent home. This is optional.
The Farmer’s Market was a huge success this year. Children traded and tasted their way through garden recipes and crafts. Thank you for helping to make this fun and tasty!
Thank you for helping your child arrive in a prompt and timely manner each day. The students are eager to begin each day and greet their friends. Remember that beginning next Monday, September 29, students will be entering the class with water bottles, green folders, and a hug good-bye for parents.
Poem of the Week:
A way up high
In the apple tree,
Two little apples
Smiled at me.
I shook that tree
As hard as I could.
Down came the apples,
Mmmm! They were good!
