Our Week in Kindergarten
Our Week:
We have been buzzing along in Kindergarten. The Junk2Funk fashion show was a success with inspired designs and confident models. We discussed ways we can keep our planet earth clean and minimize our carbon footprint. We have been painting rainbows, learning about pets and veterinarians, reading, writing, and working with phonics. We have been reviewing welded sounds, digraphs, and vowel blend teams. Students visited the garden and sketched still life scenes. During math we focused on greater than and less than, place value, telling time, and an introduction to coins and values.
Volunteers:
We will have opportunities on Friday mornings from 8:00-8:15 or Friday 2:55-3:10, for parents to come into our classroom and read a story to the children. If you would like to come in and read, please e-mail us with your first and second choice time slots and we will organize and respond via e-mail. We have 10 Fridays left. If you have a special skill or art project that you would like to organize, prepare, and share with our class of 23 students, please let us know.
Picnic:
Please send in 6 filled plastic Easter eggs for a hunt on Friday, April 3. Eggs can be filled with jellybeans, stickers, erasers, or trinkets. We are avoiding items with nuts or treats that may melt in the sun. Children will donate these to the classroom collection to be hidden and found during our class hunt and picnic. If you have interest in providing sliced watermelon, grapes, strawberries or simple treats to share after we eat our own packed lunches, please let us know. Please do not order Aquaterra on this day, as we will be having a class picnic.
Food:
Please be sure to send in plenty of food for the academic day. We have a snack in the AM, lunch, and snack after school. Check in with your child and ask if the amount you send is sufficient. If your child is bringing home a completely empty lunchbox, it may be time to add more snacks (fruit, crackers, cheese, nuts, dried fruit, seaweed, yogurt). Sunny days are upon us. Remember to sunblock faces in the AM, or send in a sunblock face stick for students to keep in backpacks.
Summer Birthdays:
If your child is a summer birthday, and they wish to celebrate at school, please contact us with several possible dates. We will send a confirming e-mail. Schedule “C” days or another student’s actual birthday are unavailable.
