Week of March 30-April 3
Our Week:
Thank you for all of the Easter eggs for our hunt tomorrow. We have been counting and tallying our eggs, skip counting by 2’s and 5’s, and adding double digits to estimate how many eggs each student will hunt for in their baskets. We have created baskets, made bunny ears, written about farm animals, practiced our lower case letters, and played farm Bingo. Students continue to work daily on Lexia, reading, and phonics. We have been discussing vowel teams and digraphs (sh, ch, wh, th, and ck).
Please continue to enjoy the nightly reading packet and remember to practice sight word reading, if your child needs the practice. Let us know if you would like more challenging words to work on at home.
Field trip:
We will be going on a Field trip to Hacienda Hay and Feed on Thursday, April 9. We will leave school @ 9:45 by Bus. We will be returning to school for lunch by 11:25. If you would like to accompany us on the bus, please let us know. If you would like to meet us at Hacienda Hay and Feed on Carmel Valley Road, from 10:00-11:00, let us know. We have been learning about pets and are expanding into a farm life unit.
Volunteers:
We will have opportunities on Friday mornings from 8:00-8:15 or Friday 2:55-3:10, for parents to come into our classroom and read a story to the children. If you would like to come in and read, please e-mail us with your first and second choice time slots and we will organize and respond via e-mail.
If you have a special skill or art project that you would like to organize, prepare, and share with our class of 23 students, please let us know.
Food:
Please remind your child about our no sharing food policy at school. This is for allergies and to be sure that all children have adequate food when they need it, as well as economic reasons. Some children are curious about other children’s lunches and new types of food, or are hungry at the end of the day. Please have a discussion with your child about favorite foods, foods they saw in other lunch boxes that look interesting, and check in to see which Aquaterra lunches are a favorite and which they do not enjoy.
Summer Birthdays:
If your child is a summer birthday, and they wish to celebrate at school, please contact us with several possible dates. We will send a confirming e-mail. Schedule “C” days or another student’s actual birthday are unavailable.
Reminders:
· Field Trip to Hacienda Hay and Feed, April 9 @ 9:45-11:30
· No Class, April 16-20
· Free Dress, April 24
· Spirit Day May 6
· Spring Dance Performance, May 15 @ 7:00 and May 16 @ 4:30
· Free Dress May 22
· May 28 Kindergarten Last Day Celebration Potluck
Thank you,
Vicki Copeland and Manon Pratt
